In order for Mary to control each of the A/V components, we chose to use another of Applied Digital's HA devices, the SECU-16IR. The SECU-16IR has 16 IR outputs with the ability to send commands either to all 16 ports or just to the port selected.
In our case we don't have any interference problems between devices but will eventually have multiple CD changers so it made sense to keep the IR separate as it is sent to each device. This will also allow us to have IR delivered to the other audio components found in other rooms of the house shown here.
