This was a weekend to remember! The tournament started with an early game (that we didn't win) followed by opening ceremonies. The entire weekend was overcast with a few sun breaks which kept the temperature tolerable. Nobody passing out from heat stroke this weekend!
The entire team was at the tournament with the exception of Alisha and Dana (we missed you girls).
Here are a couple of shots from the practice prior to the first game:
There aren't any pictures of this game. Immediately following the game the opening ceremonies were held. All the teams lined up in the outfield of one field. A fairly young girl sang the national anthem (way better than I could) and the games began.
The second game for us started after lunch and there were quite a few pictures from that game. There are so many batting pictures that they get their own page. (Batting Pics)
Before each game,
our team has some stretching exercises that keep muscle injuries to a
minimum:

With
action like this, you can see why:

Well Saturday left us defeated in all three games. Sunday didn't work out too much better but we only played one game (if you didn't already guess, we lost that one too). The real good news comes when we found out who we had played. Three of the four games were played against the top three teams in the tournament. They all had much more experience than we did and it showed.
This may all seem like a devistating blow (and it seemed like it at the time) but when we played our next season game at home, we scored runs on a team that hadn't been scored on yet! We fielded 6 fly balls, the most caught at any one game during the whole season (by our team). So the bottom line is we may not have won any of the games we played but we gained some experience that will carry forward to next year and we will be one of those top three teams.
Great job girls!
